At the pool

After our morning walk (Dad came too) we all went over to the Riviera Club to spend the afternoon at the pool. The club has an awesome little kiddie pool that Declan can crawl around and splash in. We even hit up the big pool for awhile. He's becoming a little tadpole:)

Dad's Day!

This was officially BC's first Dad's Day...he missed it by one day last year! After returning home from a friends wedding yesterday Declan and I went to the market while BC took a Dad's Day nap:) After we got back I had a little project for BC and Dec to do together...we mixed up some ingredients to form a dough and BC put his hand print in first and then Declan's inside of his. As it baked the two dudes colored BC's card from Declan. We surprised BC by taking him out to eat at Harry & Izzy's (a steakhouse) downtown, this was a real treat for him since we normally have Italian or Mexican! We also made chocolate chip cookies for him:)

Declan's Stats

Declan had a great one year check up at the doctor yesterday! He weighs 23 lbs 1 oz and is 31" tall (50% for weight and 75% for height), so he's gained 15.1 lbs and has grown 10"!! He got 3 shots yesterday (chicken pox, MMR and prevnar) and only cried for a couple of minutes!

Second Try

Since Tuesday was Declan's actual birthday and the first attempt with the birthday cake went so poorly, we decided to give it another try. The result: Declan does not like cake!

I'm One!!

It's Declan's birthday! One year old today! Declan goes to the doctor for his one year check up tomorrow, so I'll update you all with his stats then. Today is the last time that I will take his birthday picture in his diaper:) Thank you to Cyndi Heckaman for the birthday crown, he wore it all day! We made cupcakes yesterday and we're going to give him one tonight with dinner...we're hoping it will go over better than the cake! Last night was the first time in all of his 364 nights of sleeping that he slept from 9 pm to 5 am!! After his 5 am feeding he went back to sleep til 7:30 am! Thank you Declan for that:) He gives the best hugs and kisses and loves his books, buckets and shovels and says "dad dad dad" all day long! Happy birthday Boo!!

Indians Game

Yesterday we took Declan to his first baseball game! We had tickets from BC's work, so after it stopped raining we went to Victory Field to watch the Indy Indians. He wasn't too into the game, but he loved walking up and down the steps by our seats:) We think next time we'll try to go to a night game and sit on the lawn.

I think he kind of looks like the lobster on his shirt!

Walking with his wagon

Declan loves to walk with his wagon...he'll push it from the living room to the kitchen (my poor dishwasher is the dead end) and I'll turn it around and he's off again. We do this about 10 times a day!

No hands!

Well, if you can't walk with your drink in your hand, this is the next best thing!

Declan's birthday party

This past Saturday we celebrated Declan's 1st birthday (10 days early)...beach style! We had beautiful weather to go along with our surfboard cake, beach balls and even a bucket full of sand pudding! It was wonderful to have so much family come down to eat, drink and celebrate with us:) Thank you to everyone for making the trip, it means a lot to us that you were here. And a BIG thank you to my mom and sister for helping out with all of the food...we couldn't have pulled it altogether with out you! We loved the beach style that Gram, Grandad and Great Gram & Gramp Klein sported (they had their swimsuits on)! A great day was had by all, until it was cake time...Declan was ready for a nap, but we wanted to get "Happy Birthday" in before he went down. Well, he didn't like it...at all! He doesn't like sweet stuff as it is, but he really didn't like his cake! Who wouldn't like your own little surfboard cake?! So after the cake disaster, he took a much needed nap and opened some awesome presents after he woke up. His favorite present...a Pooh Bear Humidifier! Thanks again everyone for making his birthday party so much fun:)

that's right...number eight! Declan's right lower incisor came in last Friday:) 8 teeth before his 1st birthday, which is 8 days away from today!!

Mama's new ride

Well actually it's Declan's new ride, I just get to drive it! They finally dropped it off to us last night (we bought it on Saturday) and the first place we drove to...Dairy Queen! BC's idea of course, but the Brownie Batter Blizzard we split was really good:) I'm really excited about our Pacifica, it has some awesome features and is so spacious. It's considered a crossover, so I'm no longer an SUV driver (I will most likely go back to one someday though). The best thing about it is that it's really safe, we've got precious cargo!! It is quite a bit bigger than my Bravada, so it's going to take me some time getting used to parking it and backing it out of our garage...watch out fence!
