hummus, shummush

We found another food that Declan will eat...hummus!

when left alone...

Yesterday morning Declan's diaper didn't hold all that it should have and after changing him (it took me 6 wipes) I went to rinse out his clothes and put them in the washer. Well, when I came back to his room this is what I found...he had taken his socks off and somehow managed to back himself into his toy basket!

there's those teeth!

I finally got a shot of all his teeth (well it's a little hard to see one of his top sides, but it's there)! He's so goofy when I try to take his picture because he does this silly little side grin, this one isn't too bad, but he reminds me of Popeye when he does it:) And for some big news...he ate a couple pieces of banana this morning! He's moved on to small pieces of toast and muffin (thanks to my brother Rob) and even had a bite of broccoli at dinner last night! We're thinking he's going to skip the "baby food" and move right along to big guy food.

big guy jammies

So Dec has grown out of his little guy jammies and has moved on to big guy jammies (I call them that because they are the ones that don't zip or button up, but are 2 pieces). I'm kind of having a hard time putting those little guy jammies away, I'm just not ready for him to be so big! But these fit much better, he's not busting out of them and it's a bit easier to change him in the middle of the night, so we're going with them!

#6...

yep, as in Declan now has 6 teeth! His other side incisor popped through this morning:) I now know why he didn't sleep well last night. So our little guy now has 4 on top and 2 on bottom.

I'm 8 months old!

Declan turned 8 months old on Monday! Last week he cut a top side incisor and a top middle tooth...yesterday his second top middle tooth popped through! 3 new teeth in less than a week:) He's now up to 5! I didn't have a chance to weigh him this week, but last week he was 20 lbs 14 oz, so it's safe to say that he's hit the 21 lb mark! He's so close to crawling...he does a great job at maneuvering himself from a sitting position to his tummy and up on all fours. He can even move himself backwards across the floor now. He's still not eating solids, but loves his cheerios and puffs:)

Oh Boise, Idaho!!

Ahh, so we're back from our Boise trip. We had such an amazing time! I was trying to figure out the best way to tell you all about our trip and decided on telling you day by day, so here goes...we got into Boise late Wednesday night after a great plane ride with Declan, Gma & Gpa Butler picked us up at the airport, they were out there giving a workshop. Thursday morning we headed off for breakfast and walked around downtown. Boise has an awesome downtown, so pedestrian friendly, tons of great local restaurants and shops and mountains all around. We definitely took advantage of the food and shopping! That night we had dinner at our friends the Weber's (they live in Boise).

Friday we went up to Bogus Basin so BC could ski. Declan and I hung out in the lodge. It was a gorgeous drive up the mountain. The Special Olympics World Winter Games were going on, so we got to watch the Alpine Skiing event...it was so humbling to see the proud athletes and their parents.

It was also my mom's birthday...happy birthday mom! Saturday we walked around Boise State University and checked out the famous blue field...it's so blue! It's a beautiful campus that sets right on a river (we saw an eagle!). That afternoon Gma watched Declan while we grabbed some lunch at a local brew pub (BC loves local beer). That night we all went to the BSU/Utah men's basketball game. It was Dec's first game and he had a lot of fun:)

Sunday we all went up to Bogus and went snow tubing. My dad, BC and I went while Gma and Declan stayed inside (it was so windy and cold). BC almost threw up because I asked for the "helicopter spin" a couple of times and he doesn't do well with spinnies! It was so much fun:) That evening BC took me out for a Valentine's Day dinner at a really great restaurant, while Gma & Gpa watched Declan. BC bought me an awesome pair of boots! I love them:) Monday we all went to Sun Valley (about 3 hours away) so that BC and I could both go skiing/snowboarding. It was an absolutely amazing lodge! Gma, Gpa and Declan stayed warm and cozy, while we hit the slopes. The view from the top of the mountain is so beautiful. It looks down on the town of Ketchum and is surrounded by mountains. It was a great to snowboard again, but my thighs were on fire! We had a lot of fun though. Check out Dec's nap:) Before we left we bundled him up and took him outside to sit in the snow.

We said our good byes on Tuesday and left for home. Declan had another great plane ride home (I think he likes vacations as much as we do!). If you ever have a chance to go to Boise take it! We loved everything about it and would definitely love to visit again soon! Thank you to Noel and Lucy Weber for all of their hospitality, we love you.

Declan's going skiing...

...okay, so Declan isn't going skiing, but mom and dad are! We all leave today for Boise, Idaho to do some snowboarding, skiing and maybe some sledding! We even found a little pair of snowsuit bibs for Dec! We've never been to Boise and missed ski last year due to me being preggo and us moving across the country, so you can imagine how excited BC is (he still checks the snow fall for Mammoth and Mounting High). Hope to have some good pics when we return next week!

I baked!

Okay, so I know this blog is mainly for Declan, but I just have to toot my own horn because I made Cranberry Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins this morning and they turned out fantastic! You see I'm not much of a baker or a cooker (like my sister), but I'm gradually learning and starting to try new recipes that are outside of my comfort zone (pasta and quesadillas). I even made a Sun-dried Tomato Broccoli Pasta the other week that rivals California Pizza Kitchen's! Here's the finished product...

cute little guy

Just some cute pics of Dec...we've been inside all week since it's been so cold out. It was 0 out this morning! It's supposed to warm up to the upper 40's in the next couple of days though, so that means we can venture out again!
